Nervous Bride channel indie/post-punk's restless energy while curiously watching the world through plexiglass
Founded in 2020 amidst a world on pause, the band is the brainchild of Bruce William Ewing, an Austin-based musician and producer with a collection of unfinished tracks collecting dust. The vision was clear: to release the songs and bring them to life on stage, and for that, he enlisted the rhythmic prowess of Tommy Siragusa on drums and the deep, grounding bass lines of Kobe Baus.
Originally drawing profound inspiration from 80s alternative bands like New Order and the electronic minimalism of modern bands like LCD Soundsystem, Nervous Bride has evolved over time into something both nostalgic and refreshingly original.
The latest single "You Did It To Yourself Again" is a modern nod to chorus-drenched 80s alternative music, and a more pop-structured approach to Ewing's songwriting/production. The thread of loss, uncertainty, and curiously watching the world through plexiglass remains the central theme.
"Nervous Bride pulls off what seems like a simple trick in a marvellous fashion... It's been years since the charts have been interested in these kinds of bands, and Nervous Bride is looking to change things."
"A sound that features a slideshow of colors that feels like it could be the soundtrack for a summer full of endless possibilities."
"A sensual erotic retro vibe illuminates the songs charming narrative. Nervous Bride presents entirely genuine, basking in the hypnotic glory."
"That chorus does have Nervous Bride's stamp all over it... 'You Did It To Yourself Again' proved itself to be a most hypnotic listen. A song that is bread and butter to our crumpled alt rock seeking ears."
